Christian Movie Star Kirk Cameron Issues Stern Warning for America

Former child star Kirk Cameron sent a strong message to fans and fellow Americans in April; the Christian actor warns that a moral and financial decline looms in the future if the country continues to turn its back on God.

His worry about America’s future stems from the belief that many have begun to reject moral principles, opting instead for immorality and sin in the hope of appeasing or complying with societal expectations.

Cameron is best known for his role in the Growing Pains sitcom and his outspoken and unapologetic Christian stance and values. Recent projects include Christian files, faith based speaking engagements, and even a new Bible based program on Facebook live.

Cameron’s message resonates with many, and his fans range from those who enjoyed his career in the 80s and 90s to a fresh new generation of followers. Recent projects also include films, podcasts, television programs and speaking engagements, all slanted to promote and share the Christian worldview Cameron lives by.

Despite sometimes harsh criticism from left-leaning media, Cameron continues to stay the course, sharing his beliefs and the Word with a diverse group of audiences.

Fears about Our Moral Decline

Cameron expanded on his views, speaking recently to The Gospel Herald:

“You can’t help but hear Martin Luther King’s voice in your head: That our country becomes a place where we would judge people by their character and not the color of their skin,” said Cameron “And, I would add that faith in God and a dependence upon the goodness of God would also be at the center of that.”

While Cameron speaks strongly on the problems faced by America today, he also believes things can be turned around, as long a society returns to the founding principles. Incorporating America’s founding principles back into all aspects of society and returning to a more moral way of life could help halt the decline we are experiencing and the trouble Cameron feels is headed our way.

“Abraham Lincoln said — and I’m paraphrasing — we’ve become so strong and prosperous and admired by so many, but our problem is that we’ve forgotten what made us this way,” Cameron added. We’ve forgotten that this comes as a gift from God because of our reliance on him and our willingness to follow his ways. We need to get back to that.”

It is imperative that Americans come to once again embrace these truths, which will help restore the freedom that comes from faith and virtue. God should be at the center of our lives; without God, chaos will descend upon the country, according to Cameron. The actor remains hopeful that we as a people will be able to return to a more faith-based, moral state and avert the pending disaster.

“If there’s no God, then you have to throw out so much else,” Cameron said in a recent podcast “You have to throw out the ideas of goodness and love and truth and knowledge and beauty, because those ideas don’t even exist in a world where there is no God.”

What’s Ahead for Kirk Cameron?

Over a million people watched the premiere of the National Bible Bee, the first television show to be aired on Facebook Live. Cameron hosts the program, which allows young people to compete for prizes by memorizing Bible verses and appearing on a spelling-bee style show. The National Bible Bee airs on Facebook each Tuesday evening at 8pm est.

Cameron spoke out about the new series and how it was designed to highlight the many young people who live in the Word today and who can receive recognition not for spelling words correctly, but for fully immersing themselves in the Bible and being able to share it with others.

“More powerful than any book on Harry Potter’s shelf, the Holy Bible has transformed people and nations for thousands of years,” Cameron says, speaking to prweb.com.
“I was thrilled to host the National Bible Bee Game Show to bring more attention to these incredible young people who have devoted so much time to scripture memorization and proclamation. My hope is that the National Bible Bee Game Show not only inspires young people all over the world to read and memorize God’s Word, but that they see it gives life, it heals, and transforms people wherever it goes.”

Cameron’s message is not only a dire warning of chaos and trouble to come, but one of hope, faith and trust in our future generations as well. Viewers can see Cameron in action by tuning into the National Bible Bee on Facebook or by visiting the actor and speaker’s personal site and podcast.
